Introducing Your September “On The Rise” Nominees
Each month, we identify four YouTube Partners who are growing their subscribers but haven’t yet reached the 100,000 subscribers mark for our On The Rise program. You vote for your favorite in the top right corner of this blog, and the winner will be featured on the YouTube homepage and videos page.
This September, our nominees are here to help you learn and play. So go grab a football, arts supplies, headphones or popcorn and check out the nominees are below. Then vote for your favorite in the top right corner by September 22 at 6pm PT, and we’ll announce the winner on September 29.

PoPS!!!! Yay!!! They are so awesome--they work SO hard for this and make such a stellar, skilled product. They reallllly deserved to be in NextUp, but I'm so glad they got On the Rise (maybe NextUp's next edition)... Seriously talented and phenomenal; less than 1% of partners put even 1% of the work into their product that Jake does, and I'm a huuuuge fan (ok so I'm a hundred pound but hugely enthusiastic fan)... If he doesn't win, I'll possibly cry and definitely keep impatiently waiting. I really want more people to see this kickass stuff. It can only be good for YouTube to get a million people contributing to this brilliantly produced and totally fun series. I would LOVE it if they had special guests but would love it MORE if they could make them more often(!!!), but that takes lots of money and time, so we have to get their subscriber and view count WAY up first :) Anyone coming here, you totally need to watch what's up so far. You'll be FBing/Tweeting it all over the place!
This seems like an odd assortment to pit against each other. I've very recently become a fan of PoPS, and am not a crafter, a sports fan, nor am I really interested in critic shows, so obviously, I'm going to vote for a web series/serial/epic/whatever they want to call it. It is awesome, by the way. Go to their main web site to see all the shows in a row (easier than finding ep1, part1 in the youtube interface.
Wouldn't it make more sense to pit 4 sports shows against one another, to let the cream de la that genre rise to the top? And then 4 crafts series, 4 media critic shows and 4 scripted scifi/fantasy shows?

Every time I see someone refer to this contest I get the song from Dr. Horrible stuck in my head. :) Anyway, PoPS should definitely win. New episodes are the highlights of my life. :D
How can needle drop compare to pineapple boy films? I mean it just seems so boring and unentertaining.
More people need to vote for PoPS! These guys deserve this so much. Not that the other ones, don't, I'm sure they do as well, but They work so hard on PoPS and I feel it's such an unappreciated treasure! Vote for PoPS ;D
PoPS is an incredible web series, and Jake Jarvi pours his heart and soul into its creation. Not only is the series itself intriguing and ingenious, the way Jake includes his fans into the making of the series is endearing. I've been a fan of the series since Episode 1, and eagerly anticipate every installment.
I am a professional musician so I understand & appreciate the value of good musical revue... however... I'm a little bit sad that the opportunity for a well written, produced, acted, directed show that takes thousands of man hours, might lose visibility because of a popularity contest. It's these kind of situations that continue the existence of "reality" shows and perpetuate what's easy, cheap, and unoriginal versus whats creative, innovative, costly and difficult. Maybe it would have been better to choose to vote between similar formats? Let's help give PoPS the exposure it deserves.
Pops really does put the most effort into their show. They deserve this for real.

I like the needle drop but allot more time and effort has gone into PoPS. They spend ages producing scripts editing and making the web series really polished. It would be a shame for them not to get the publicity they deserve.

If ultimately the votes on the two main contenders is so close, why won't youtube just feature both of them? With such intense competition from passionate videomakers, it seems unfair to just feature one.
Only reason PoPS got ahead is because Wheezy promoted it on his Twitter/channel. TND ALL DAY. SWAG. PIZZA PARTY. GOLF WANG. ETC. /mu/.

right now pinneapleboyfilms and needledrop are in the top but this may or may not be because of the content of their channel but of their audience

PoPS ought to win this one, but they're up against the vote-rigging powers of /mu/ (and partially /v/) from 4chan. And no one rigs an anonymous internet poll like 4chan.

The Needle Drip
I really don't see where any of the other videos even compare to POPS! So much time, money and effort goes into their videos. They should get the recognition they deserve. Plus, then they could have more time to work on posting new POPS episodes. I heard Wheezy talk about POPS in many of his videos but hesitated to view it. I don't know why I waited! Excellent entertainment guys! Keep up the good work! If more people would put the effort into their videos I would spend more time on YouTube!! POPS FOR THE WIN!!!

The Needle Drop manages to have MORE votes for his channel than VIEWS on his video that told his subscribers "go vote for me!" Doesn't that seem off?
Also, Wheezy videos get 10 times more views and he'd promoted from there. Again, PoPS should have won.
