And the results are in! Hundreds of thousands votes were cast during the week-long voting process, and 12 videos emerged victorious in their respective categories. Head over here to see the winners or click here to review all the nominees, which were largely defined as the videos you favorited to watch again and again, that generated the most discussion or views, and/or made some kind of societal impact.
Tell us what you thought about this year's awards experience and how we could make it better in the future. More community involvement is definitely on the top of the list, as is giving the event more of a real-world presence (beyond the the mammoth trophy winners will receive).
Meanwhile, upload those videos and start building up an audience for them. Anything could happen in 2008...

In Florida 60% of those who voted cast their vote for Hillary Clinton. No less than 60% of the deligates should be assigned to Sen. Clinton That is the only satisfactory answer. Give 40% to Sen. Obama. As for Michigan, if Sen Obama took his name off the ballot - and Sen. Clinton did not, - that is Sen. Obama's problem ... a gaff in JUDGEMENT wouldn't you say.
In Florida, No Democratic candidate campaigned. However, we are not deaf, dumb and blind. We listen to the TV like the rest of America and were able to make an educated judgement regarding the vavious issues each candidate was pushing forth in order to vote for whom we wanted to be our candidate.
What is Howard Dean's problem? An Independent individual has offered to fund the re-vote in Florida. Sen. Clinton has a much to lose as Sen. Obama in a re-vote....so what is the problem.
Sen. Obama claims that to count our votes is contrary to the rules of the DNC. I say it is contrary to the law of the land and is UNCONSTITUTIONAL.

It is mind-boggling that YouTube chose to use plurality voting for these awards, instead of range voting -- especially considering that 1. YouTube videos already USE range voting by default (you vote for them on a 1-5 scale). 2. Plurality voting -- where you pick just one -- is one of the worst voting methods, and range voting is the best of all common "non-exotic" voting methods. http://rangevoting.org/UniqBest.html To put it in perspective, imagine the difference in representativeness you get if you move from a completely random winner system to a plurality system, where YouTube viewers vote for their favorite video in a given category. By switching from plurality to range voting, you get THAT MUCH MORE representativeness. You double the effect of the election. So, please please please -- let people vote by RATING the videos, not by picking just one. It's too late for this year, but you can fix this for next year. This week many of us were shocked to hear the Rev (?) Jeremiah Wright's comments. I was even more shocked at the brilliant discourse Barak Obama offered in response! In a word he said "Up your nose, USA, I am sticking with Jeremiah. What kind of DOUBLE TALK is it when he says I reject his comments, but I can no more reject him than I can reject my white Grandmother. For me that is NO REJECTION at all! No one expects him to reject his grand mother, but after 20 years, he could certainly reject Jeremiah and attend another church. Adventists, Baptists, Catholics, Lutherans, Methodists, Presbyterians, Pentacostals, Unity Churches, etc. etc. and etc. ALL accept people of color into their communities and congregations. No one has to listen to the Anti-American, hate mongering, rabble rousing sermons Jeremiah has been spewing from the pulpit for the past 20 years of Obama's life. One may not agree with all of what he says, but some of it always sticks. Case in point....Michelle Obama. Didn't she say (on the stump for her husband) that "this is the FIRST time I have been proud to be an American. Now how UNPATRIOTIC can you get? Her husband, Barak, talks of chance, but his eloquent speech said nothing to me except that the he is seeking is total equality for the black community... and what about the rest of the USA? Do we benefit by default? Where, I ask, were the media and their so-called guest "pundits" when he delivered that speech. I heard it - did anyone else?
