YouTube + Google Earth

Now you can find YouTube videos based on where they were created! Google Earth has just launched a new browseable layer which populates geo-tagged YouTube videos when you click on a location. To access this feature, go to Google Earth and head over to the new 'Featured Content' folder on the left-hand side of the page. Click the 'YouTube' button and icons pointing to videos related to that area on the map will appear. The closer you zoom in, the more videos will display; you can then watch these videos via Google Earth or YouTube. You can also search for all videos attached to a specific location or just click around on the map as you please. This works best if you download the newest version of Google Earth, so be sure to get the latest version.

You can tag your video with a location during the upload process on YouTube. Simply click the "Date and Map Options" to display the maplet, then drag the marker or use the search browser to choose a specific location. Once your location is recorded, your video will appear on Google Earth.

Geo-tagging your videos is a great way to share your experiences with your viewers – they can literally peek in on that scuba diving trip in the Pacific, see what it's like to be at the top of L'Arc de Triumph in Paris, or feel like they're right there with you in the park with your best friends.

So go forth and geo-tag, 'Tubers!

right, good feature but it needs to tag a geographic location of the video uploader, without any intervention , nevertheless, its something

Google Earth and Youtube is a natural combination. I still find it amazing how Google Earth can map out the oceans of the world with precision

In addition, as far as getting the job done? There is a binder full of building problems and other issues that were given to Mr. Design to “get done”, not only did they not get done, Design kept these things hidden from Commissioner McTygue! These underhanded and inappropriate tactics used by Mr. Design have and will cost the tax payers of this most beautiful city, money for years to come!

You can use mappeo.net to do the same with google maps in a browser

Recently an article in The Saratogian, Skip Scirocco stated that “Pat is a great Guy, gets along with people, and gets the job done!” To give you an idea of how false and misleading that really is; this past Friday when it was finally announced that Design would be his Deputy Commissioner, current employees of the city had already started to file complaints against Design. Several are working on a “class-action” law suit against the city and Design personally for sexual harassment, verbal harassment, slander, discrimination, and the use of inappropriate and foul language toward women, which will be pursued if Mr. Design is elected this November!

Ps One other issue we would like to set straight; the majority of the two city CSEA Union’s did not vote to endorse Skip Scirocco for commissioner, this was done in a corner, behind our backs, by a committee which is made up of less than 10 % of all the
Union members!

Hi, my name is Norenid Feliciano. Im currently an undergraduate journalism student at the University of Puerto Rico, and as a requirement for my degree, I am defending a bachelor's degree thesis. The title of my thesis is "Puerto Rico on the Web 2.0". In this thesis I have to elaborate indicators of usage of web pages categorized under the term Web 2.0. You Tube is one of the web portals that are studied in my thesis. I have to gather statistical data of how many people of Puerto Rico are registered in You Tube. It is possible that I can get that information?. Also, is it possible that you can tell me how many people from Puerto Rico have uploaded videos?

Who is the person that I have to contact to get this information?
I would really appreciate your help.

Sincerely,
Norenid Feliciano. norekeys17@gmail.com

I am in the process of re-uploading our videos to the DanTraveling site. I am doing this to take advantage of the awesome Google Earth feature. We have been asked many many times, where are the Elkmont Houses located in Tn? Or how do you get to Pocahontas Virgina? Where is Seagrove NC?

This feature is awesome and made for Travel Videos.

Thank You

DanTraveling

Check out our Google Earth Pocahontas Virginia. We re-uploaded (higher res also) And now you can go to Google Earth and see where it is up in the coal fields

a similar application already exists since March, on top of google maps,
www.VeniVidiWiki.eu
(I came, I saw, .. I share !)

in addition :
- it is a wiki where you can add and share any point of interest
- videos are selected and classified in 50 categories (sports, cities, events, natural/cultural places...)

What a pointless feature. Use your resources towards GETTING NAZIS and PEDOS of the site.

LeonWestbrook said...

to contemporarybeatnik.

We DO flag the Pedos, Nazis and other trash but YT DOES NOTHING ABOUT IT AT ALL.

This is one of the greatest improvements in YouTube from time ago. IMO it shows how deep you understand times to come. Congratulations.

contemporarybeatnik said...

to those of you who post things like "I will never use this and its the biggest waste of time ever creating this stupid program" or "What a pointless feature"... why don't you just do us all a favor and shut the F*ck up and quit being such dicks! someone spent time coding that; if you think it's useless then so be it. have you ever heard of constructive criticism? mindless cretins! be appreciative and offer pointers, don't slam a coders work. once upon a time i bet some people thought the ability to allow anyone to upload videos to a website was pointless and unnecessary. i'm glad that visionaries of YOUR caliber aren't on the forefront of developing new things for people to use and experiment with. quit being so shortsighted and see what happens. i'm sure YouTube and Google are aware of the potential harmful ramifications that could result from this features misuse and are thinking of appropriate measures. instead of complaining about them letting all the "NAZIS and PEDOS" join up (i mean, it's just so easy to catch them all through the handy "check here if you're a nazi or pedophile" button, i'm amazed any get through at all... idiots) why don't you volunteer some of your precious time and flag such inappropriate users and aid in their removal. sheesh! what an appreciative bunch! i for one thank the YouTube innovators for attempting to enrich my multimedia experience through the development of new features (even if i lack the ability to see the bigger picture). please continue to improve YouTube in ways you deem appropriate while i attempt to catch all the nazis and pedophiles on this site... and of course i'll let you know when a feature is more annoying than it is beneficial... after i've TRIED it first. rant over. thank you and goodnight.

OK I AM GETTING ANGRY! spamspamspamspam, GET OUT OF HERE NOW YOU BLOODY NUISANCE!

contemporarybeatnik said...

@ y2kjonrichards... yeah, that's harsh. Viacom is making things hard on YouTube, and I guess shi-... er, trouble flows downhill.

This is really cool. Is there any way we could also tag our channel, instead of all of our individual videos? That would make things easier.

Tbh, I'll never use this.. Ad it's a great way for people to come find out where you live, and really, who would care to use this feature, besides people that are plain bored with access to Google Earth.
