Meet the December “On The Rise” nominees and vote for your favorite
Each month, we find four YouTube Partners whose subscriber numbers are growing but haven’t yet hit 100,000 for our monthly On The Rise program. December’s candidates are in, and we encourage you to check out their videos and vote for your favorite in the top right corner of this blog by December 12 at 5pm PT. The channel with the most votes at the end of the week will be featured on the YouTube homepage and videos page.
To close out 2011, the On The Rise candidates this month are as talented and diverse as ever, including an ESL teacher, a pop culture vlogger, a skateboard videographer and a portrait artist. Vote for your favorite by December 12, and we’ll announce the partner selected on this blog on December 19.

I feel that the person who truely deserves this is ThePortraitArt, people will find Jennifer's language videos if they want to learn stuff about the English language, but what TPA does is so unique, and so talented that most people don't search for it.
Imo he really deserves the spotlight for that reason.

There's a difference between speaking a language and drawing a language. For Jennifer, pronunciation and definition is the only work she does for the youtube communitiy whereas ThePortraitArt draws his language that is composed MORE than just phonetic English itself. It is translated into MANY languages than just Jennifer's single English language.
ThePortraitArt speaks more than Jennifer's simplicity of English.

Self expression, Sport, Art and Language are all invaluable parts of humanity and everyone is obviously great at what they do. I'm very happy to just be nominated but also can't help to think it is a shame that only one of us gets to win when all of us deserve a little spotlight. I think the votes reflects that compared to some of the past numbers.

Wow, thePortraitArt is amazing! I can barely imagine drawing that well in pencil, but with salt and other unconventional media shows true understanding of nature and art.
I don't think the salt drawing really covers how awesome ThePortraitArt is.

i voted for the portrait art, he had support from a 100 000 subscriber friend on youtube, multiple shoutouts on teamliquid (hundred of thousand visit the site each day), multiple shoutouts on twitter from account with more than 10 000 followers etc etc... and yet for some reason jenniferesl votes stay ahead or the portrait art... I'm sure JenniferESL is not involved in this, but someone is obviously rigging the vote in her favour.

She's getting like 25-50 votes per second. This is just some rudimentary scripted bot, with an algorithm that increases/decreases votes based on the 2nd place contender while factoring in how much time is left in the contest. I just want to get her banned from Youtube, what a joke.

How can people accuse JenniferESL of cheating? Who cares how many people voted in a poll on her website? She as over 60,000 subscribers on YouTube & she has the entire ESL 'community' behind her!
I don't agree with Jimmy who says "ThePortraitArt speaks more than Jennifer's simplicity of English." You can say that because YOU SPEAK ENGLISH! Jennifer's English lessons are created for people learning the language. The way she is able to explain things in her videos has helped thousands of people around the world improve their English - a language that many desperately need to make a better life for themselves.
All the nominees are very talented and are all deserving of this recognition. You can support a nominee's work without denigrating another nominee's work.

Either teachers are mobilizing and voting en masse, or there are bots voting for JenniferESL. Doubtful she has anything to do with that at all, but refreshing the page over the last few minutes has been unreal.

The video on this page that she posted has 30,000 views, while she has 110,000 votes. Did only a quarter of the people who voted for her actually watch her video? That seems odd.
ThePortraitArt's video on the other hand has 130,000 views, slightly more than the number of votes it has.

So JenniferESL fans have clearly been botting and there is evidence of it on the net of people writing down the intervals of votes given to jenniferESL (which was at a stable rate) And are around four times as many as her views on the entry video are. Distasteful (Of course Jennifer is by no means in on this, but the acts of some of her fans are atrocious)
