Search Comments on YouTube in Real-Time
Today, Comments Search moves into Test Tube, the place where our engineers and developers test out new features and gather data and feedback before pushing them out to a wider audience. This feature allows you to search the comments people are making on YouTube in real time. The full comment will appear on a continuously updated results page, and "trending topics" indicates the hottest topics of conversation on YouTube at that particular moment. Comments Search is a way you can find out what YouTube users are saying about everything from the news stories of the day (below, see results when we typed in "balloon boy") to your individual channel or brand.
So try it out, enter your feedback here or comment below, and help us get this feature ready for the masses. We're always working on new ways to enhance search across YouTube and give quick and easy access to the information people are looking for.

This is great, but when are you ACTUALLY going to get to the real problems with this site? Like how you let everyone false flag and false DMCA claim videos. I'd rather have a site with not many functions that have no flaws than a site that has lots of functions that are buggy as heck.

I thought that this new feature was pointless. However, I just tried it out and found a video that I would have never found if I had used YouTube's regular search. I love this feature.
Is the search sorted in chronological order?
One thing needs fixed. When a search yields no results, I get a 500 Internal Server Error.

Why would you want to search comments? Also Reese had a good point. Rather than making the site flashier, make it function properly first.

No don't do it! It's like Twitter but more than that if you look at the amount of spammers in the Twitter Trending topics you can see that the same thing will happen on Youtube but on a bigger scale!!! Not a good idea, there are way too many ignorant hate comments on YouTube already, the last thing we need is those hate comments being promoted!
I think this is an awful idea. Almost no one types comments that, on their own, make sense and should be searchable. And there's already enough comment spam. This would only promote it. If you're going to implement this idea (although I don't suggest it), you need some (much better) way of moderating the comment section.
TheWillOfDC just posted a video about this that basically sums up my feelings.. IT'S STUPID. It'll spread even more spam, through trending topics and searches. Did you know if you look up Obama you get "f that n-word obama" like all over the place?
You say this is a family friendly site but doing this will only promote the hate.

If you were to add features from another site, I think you should go with daily booth.
Being able to add pictures with your comments and things like that, but of course that'd have to be watched closely.
Twitter's features are just too different and don't work with Youtube:P

comment search seems pretty neat.
However, the one main change I would do to video comments (not necessarily the comments search) is to make them more like Digg.com and have them default to "most liked/digged." That way the best/funniest/most relevant comments are encouraged to rise to the top instead of the the way it is now, which seems to favor "most current."
Real-time comments is an illogical, basically useless idea.
Let us have our old channel designs back. Your new channel design is awful and I don't bloody want it.

Scratch that, seems it searches the comments from only a few days, which doesn't help much
