The U.S. Government Comes to YouTube

Sound like outtakes from the latest Hollywood movies? Actually, these videos are part of the new U.S. Government portal on YouTube.
That's right, your federal government has come to YouTube. You may have noticed that President Obama has been posting weekly addresses to the White House YouTube channel since inauguration. Now, there are dozens of official federal YouTube channels where you can access footage from NASA, the State Department, the FBI, the CDC, and more. It's all part of making Washington, D.C., more transparent and accessible than ever before -- and helping you easily navigate government information that's relevant to your life.
The U.S. Government channel is located at youtube.com/usgovernment, a nifty hub that links off to dozens of federal government channels on YouTube, from the Social Security Administration to the Environmental Protection Agency, with others to be added in the coming months. Steve, what is wrong with the News and Politics section? I have a new video called "How MSM Misleads the Public about Israel with Euphemisms like "Facts on the Ground"" and I was hoping it would get exposure in the "Top News" section but the whole section is screwed up. Plus, why aren't there at least 100 videos in that section? All sections should be expanded to 1000 videos, it would make for more page views - more ad exposure for YouTube. Could you please make public what the criteria for a video to make it into the listing 'Top News'? Is view count plus ratings calculated somehow? Then surely my prior video should have made it. All the work I put into getting facts which MSM won't report seen by people and there always seems to be some kind of problem. Also, why is this most important category pushed down with "Top Headlines" and "News Near You" on top? It undermines the exposure of the ad on that page too.
To hell with the US Government...We do NOT want propaganda.

Thank you for this blog. Had chance to go to seminars on foreclosures,credit counseling. Think it would be great benefit for ordinary people to get the latest decision/law made by Washington in a easy language/how it benefits them or how they can get help free of cost as provided by Uncle Sam (its genuine). There are free help available with no string attached in this difficult time.
Do appreciate YouTube for focusing or reminding the public servants that they are for the public, should reach to the public and work for the betterment of the public. Hope YouTube will bring propaganda free, the truth good, bad, or ugly, make us face the reality and learn and nurture the basic values. I'm so glad the government has finally come to YouTube. They can come on in and make it run perfectly like everything else they do. Unlike all the other people here who say that this is just bullshit propaganda and/or the NWO coming to haunt us, I'll take a 'wait and see' approach to this. It all depends on what the government wishes to put on the site. If it indeed helps make government activities more transparent to users like they claim, and they do not region lock the videos they put up, then I think it could actually be a good thing.

I am so excited to see this finally happening. The government has always been a late adopter of new technologies, but making this effort goes a long way toward renewing my trust in government interest in constituents.
