Two Are Better Than One
Starting today, signing up for YouTube means signing up for a Google Account that gives you access to YouTube, as well as other Google services such as iGoogle, Reader and Docs. If you already have a Google Account, you can choose to link your new YouTube Account to it, which means one less password to remember.
You can still sign up for YouTube with any email address and you'll still need to confirm whatever email address you enter. You'll also still pick a unique YouTube username that identifies you to the YouTube community.
So why are we doing this? We feel that by jointly connecting accounts, you can take greater advantage of our services both on YouTube and on Google, especially as we start to roll out new features in the future that will be powered by Google technology.
For those of you who already have a YouTube Account, don't worry, you'll still be able to enjoy YouTube with just a YouTube Account. But some of the new features we roll out down the road may require a Google Account. In these cases, we'll be there to help you link your YouTube Account to a Google Account if you want to check the features out.

I am always for upgrades, making things better. Although, I sometimes
don't like change, because sometimes it seems to not make things better........ Here's hoping.
It is good but thing is if Google takes over a lot of places, it means only one account, which means only one password. Maybe they should let you have secondary code for some sites.
I hate it, allow us thwe ability to link and delink forcing us to make google accounts or like aol forcing you to use aim for only other aim/aol persons, don't follow aol's bad business skills.

Seems to work. This site should have 'Google' written all over it anyway as a warning to the unaware.
On a less sarcastic note, it is nice that this still works with cookies from Google blocked.
The problem for me is that I use a Google account for everything except YouTube -- I've been using a separate Google account at YouTube for years.
Now, when I end up mixing up accounts whenever I enter or leave YouTube, and it's really annoying me.
Do I now have to move my videos and subscriptions to my primary Google account???

Just as I suspected, now I cannot visit YouTube in the same browser that I use for Gmail and everything else -- my two Google accounts keep getting mixed up.

On of thing that should be done is Youtube should keep a count of your Total views regardless if you delete the video or not. Myspace does this with their Music Player. Especially since you guys use views as a ranking stats.

This is terrible! There are three youtube accounts that people use on this computer and two google accounts, and they can't keep them straight! If I sign into youtube, I get disconnected from my gmail, and if I sign in to gmail, my youtube switches accounts to my son's account. My son and husband are having the same problem with their account. This isn't a good implementation.
Why MUST we have a Google account in order to create a YouTube account?! Before, creating an account was easy and anyone could do it, but NOW in order to create a YouTube account, you MUST create a Google account! To put it simply, creating a YouTube account has become so complicated that at the end, it's just not worth it! But what I hate most of all about this is that now, YOU CAN'T CREATE MORE THAN ONE ACCOUNT PER E-MAIL!! Whatever happened to creating backup accounts, huh?! psetus is right, this is terrible! Hi - since you have connected the YouTube account with the Gmail account, which I think is the right way to go - there is a BUG REPORT:
If you are part of the content partner program - We can not LINK a YouTube User to the Partner account. - the error is "password is incorrect" Please, please, please advise. - thanks so much.

There is a major problem with this, and I hope someone at Youtube reads this comment, because this is a serious complaint about a problem which I belive can be fixed.
You see, I already have a Youtube account, and I linked it with my Google Account. This first account is one I use for all my videos of music and songs I've composed. Now, I want to create a seperate account for comedic videos. This forces me to link the new account with my google account. I cannot do this, however, because I already have a Youtube account linked to that Google account. I would have to create a new Gmail and Google account just to have another Youtube channel, and I would have to constantly log out of one and into the other just to check up on each account.
I should be able to either:
1) link more than one Youtube accounts to my Google Account
or, if this is to difficult to program:
2) have the option to NOT have my Youtube linked to Google. In all honesty it just makes things more difficult.
This whole linking of accounts is incredibly fustrating to anyone who has more than one Google or more than one Youtube account, which happens to be a lot of people. This really could have been thought out much better.

There needs to be a way to link more than one YouTube account to the same Google account. It is completely pointless to have to have different Google accounts for ever YouTube account. Someone didn't think this through very much.

Like many others, I have two YouTube accounts and one Google account. One of the YT accounts is linked. It is really hard to connect to the other one. I have to sign out of Google, which kills all my other beloved Google services, and sign in to the YouTube account.
Surely there must be a better way to manage this. Suggestions??

If you already have a gmail account, the stupid connection between
youtube and gmail conflict. If you log out of gmail you logout of youtube.
If you log into youtube you are now logged into a gmail account which

If you then log into a the gmail account you already have, since the
youtube gmail account is of NO USE, then you are logged out of
youtube. BRILLIANT MOVE!

It's true that you only need one account for both Google and YouTube, which does mean less accounts/passwords, but it also means that for every YouTube account I make, I need a new e-mail address, resulting in more accounts/passwords.
I know several YouTube channels (myself included) that choose to host different types of content on separate channels, and if I need to sign up a second YouTube account, I also need to sign up an e-mail address with it.
It's confusing enough to have multiple YouTube accounts, but needing a separate e-mail address for each YouTube account is just making it worse.

Youtube: What is with WMG taking down material that's not even under copyright by them? One of my Videos has video clips licensed by Square Enix not WMG and the whole video was taken down unlike my other videos where only the songs were disabled. Why is it that WMG can take down any video they choose even if only the Song is at fault?
This is just annoying as it simply doesn't work. If I click sign in I get the sign in page asking for my Gmail account (even though I'm already logged in to it) - so fine. Then it asks me to add my YouTube account or create a new one. If I try and Add, it just says its already added, but I can't actually log in. Its just circular. As to 'you can still use your old YouTube Account', how? When sign in directs you to the GMail account page. Nightmare

Two accounts, two emails - only the old one works - the new one just goes round and round in circles - making me sign in through Google but not letting me do it - this system is seriously broken - get it sorted
My problem is that I confirmed my account, got the verification that it was confirmed from google, on the screen, and now when i try to Favorite a video, it says that my account isnt verified. So then i repeat the verifying process and when i get back to google through the verification link in the email, it says account already verified...So WTF!!!! is it not letting me favorite the videos!!!!
