The YouTube Homepage Goes HD
You may have already noticed, but this past December we rolled out Hi-Definition-enabled video viewing here on YouTube. Just click the "watch in HD" option below any HD-enabled video, sit back and relax as the joy of YouTube comes to you sharper and more cinematic than ever before. And while you're certainly free to browse our new HD Videos area, we've taken the liberty to spotlight a few HD favorites of our own on today's homepage.
From an epic Internet history lesson, to the serenity of a snow-covered bridge, to a visit from comedy's most beloved fake messiah, we hope there's a little something here for everyone.

Great to see YouTube had an HD option, but I tried and can't notice the difference in picture quality. Wonder if I am doing it right?

how do you make a video to be viewable in HD?
Could a link please be added below videos that allows viewers to choose between ALL THREE (where applicable of course) - Standard Definition, Higher Quality, and HD.
If I upload an HD video, viewers don't have an option to view that video in HIGH QUALITY because the only two options are HD and normal quality.
Other than that, some neat changes lately =)
hey youtube, can you put an opition on playback setup, that the videos that has WATCH IN HD (not watch in HQ) will do the watch in HD automatically, like the watch in HQ, when you do the settings?

The advertising is becoming annoying- why are 'ads by google' covering up half the screen after watching a clip? Bleh! TV advertising keeps me online but more ads on youtube will definitely keep me from staying on the site.

For those of you who want a bar. Try the new beta uploader. You add ?beta to the end of the upload URL.
For those requesting 3D. You need to buy a pair of 3D glasses and watch videos that are recorded in 3D. You can't just make it 3D. True 3D is recorded by having two cameras at different angles.
i upload my video with Youtube 720p guidelines. but my result is not HD !
and i upload other short movie for test with same setting and codec and result is HD ! where is problem !

What I specially like about this blog post is the fact that posted video IS NOT HD-quality, thus proving that youtube HD still sucks some balls.
I have this problem, I cannot see any videos in Youtube, however if it is hosted in ANY other provider (Metcafe, Google, Wattv, etc) there are no problems. Maybe this has to do with your change to HD. I had never experienced this before. I run both IE and Firefox. The problem in two separate PCs... I can only see a blank screen in the video window .... any help?
It's not HD,it's just a higher quality option than HD.and you guys should have left the original widescreen video player for HD.When you click on,play HD the quality get's much worse than it is!

Can you guys add an option to watch HD videos in HD automatically? Because this would be a good compromise to the glitch where when you click "View in HD", the video becomes all green and glitchy, and the frame rate becomes choppy.

I was wondering who pays for YouTube? Since posting videos and viewing is free to users, how do they make any money?
Not everyone want to watch in HD.. Like me, i really want to watch in HD, but my laptop is a little bit old, and it got choppy watching in HD. and also for people that want too watch in high quality, but dont have the bandwidth.
Please make the Menu for HQ too!!! not just HD..

wow...if 3D --- its would be awesome, but you would have transmit the video to a larger screen without any loss of sharpness - tough to do.
Its not 3D folks...its HD..big difference! You need special glasses and a big screen for 3D, no so for HD
