Nonprofits Commemorate Human Rights Declaration
Today marks the 60th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR). In commemoration, human rights organizations are using YouTube to inform citizens about the significance of the UDHR and the human rights violations that still plague our society. Today's homepage features a sample of these videos, such as the animated piece below which includes information about the UDHR (as well as a catchy soundtrack):

Human rights abuses? What constitutes a human? And why are so many subjected to wireless research and seriously cruel applications of mind control and behaviour modification? So many groups see the physical sufferings but they fail to give a damn when it is wireless energy directed to kill and maim and more. Why are those who speak about the injustices labeled as insane? Money goes to support the American Civil Liberties Union but when I called it didn't matter. Perhaps I just wasn't colored enough to take a deeper look into!It must be nice to have a group and get kudos for alleviating human rights that you choose to feature but deny the real psychological torment, the anguish of human research subjects and if we try to speak out about it we are further put in pain!
I dare you to stop this problem. And if you don't...then I think you should give up claiming you are against human rights abuses. With the technologies of today you don't need idiots with stcks to break bones...but that's who human rights groups go after. It's as if they know nothing about how to get a group to rise up after another!Or the techniques that are used to get someone to kill repeatedly, and then clean him up a bit and put him nicely to sleep...until you use him again.

Interesting. I thought this blog entry was going to be about YouTube Blackout, the protest on Dec. 19th against YouTube's attempt at the censorship with their new policy.

Dear Mrs Ramya R., I understand that you don't like to share your full name when making official statements on behalf of your employer. It is indeed shameful how your employer abuses humanitarian causes like this to slap a thin coat of do-goody paint on the colossal evil that is Google. This, I would suggest to OhCurt below, is also the reason why nobody comments on blog entries like this one: Why should we reward Google for instrumentalising the efforts of humanitarian organisations to spruce up their image? I wonder, dear Mrs Ramya R., if you play your part in this sickening scheme just because you needed a job, or because you are indeed evil at heart. Much as I would like to assume the former, with a Google employee the latter is just so much easier to believe. Peace.

Hello YouTube.
I think it is quite ironic that you launch this human rights movement right AFTER you, essentially, take away ours. This blog speaks of violations of basic rights and encourages the exposing of this "raw footage" while at the same time the people....YOUR PEOPLE are crying "Censorship" in your own house. Videos are being snuffed from seeing daylight, people aren't being heard, seen or discovered because of a few obscure words and you all but CONCEIL the "Most Discussed" list and ONLY display the Rising, Most Popular and Most Viewed videos. After months and months of updating and upgrading the system and modules to make YouTube a more "Personal experience" and "Easier to find new vloggers", you've discarded us for the sake of nothing else other then to become MORE like what we ALL were trying to get away from. When news breaks around the world, is it not US who upload and bring you this "raw footage", when there are injustices, (see: Viacom), is it not US who step in with multitudes of opinions, loopholes and legalities to stand up for, not only ourselves but then entity that has become YouTube?
YouTube has promoted a video which explicitly endorses the right to think and say what we want, AND no one shall take any of these rights away, yet YouTube is censoring free speech by algorithmically demoting or deleting videos that have profanity or any content that may be seen as offensive and/or vulgar. To say this is hypocritical would be a gross understatement. We all know and fully understand that Google owns YouTube, and because it is privately owned, its policies do not have to subscribe to what the general consensus wants. However, like any good business, it should recognize that its existence continues only when it gives what the people desire. For example, Walmart does not have to offer rollbacks and low prices all the time, but if it knows what's good for business, then they will do it. Otherwise, we will simply find a new store to patronize. Similarly, if YouTube and Google know what is good for business, they will cease these hypocritical actions which have compromised their integrities, and they will give the public what it wants: free, unrestricted speech.

On 60th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights youtube started to prevent users to read friend's bulletins excepting one by one by clicking on each one friend's name in /friendtivity page. Friendship has both one by one relationship and gang relationship, but they cut the last one off. So youtube does plump for lesser ungoodness by depriving users of the benefit and protection of the "freedom of association/freedom of assembly" right that is scripted in both US Constitution and Universal Human Declaration and prefigures ungoodness has not to be adopted? Maybe who wrote the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and US Constitution was like that, who knows?
How can you expect me to take that last paragraph seriously when in September 2007, YouTube banned activist Wael Abbas for uploading videos of police brutality in Egypt? Even today, his types of videos will never be seen by the viewing public because they'll be algorithmically demoted, and he could be suspended AGAIN for repeatedly uploading such content according to your new policies.
I love how Youtube features this video mere days after it announces the human rights violation that is "A YouTube for All of Us".
Thanks for the hypocrisy in promoting this video just shortly after violating all of our human rights with your new policies.

Although not a devotee of Michael Jackson, the unfolding story related to his life, criminal charges and acquittal and death offers a plethora of human rights violations including some of the video content on youtube.
The most recent of the numerous violations is the right to dignity in death. When is the media going to take some responsibility and honour real attempts at change?
