New Video Upload Redesign Beta
We're excited to unveil our new and improved video uploader. A random sample of YouTube users have already been using the beta version, but now we're inviting everybody to check out this more streamlined uploading experience. Just login to your YouTube account and click this link to opt in. The new video upload flow includes these cool features:
- You can enter in your video's metadata (title, description, tags, etc.) while the upload is processing.
- Upload multiple files at once, without downloading a plugin (separate progress bars will display for each file).
- The file-size limit for uploads has been raised from 100MB to 1GB.

Although I could upload my videos, I could upload only in GSM MPEG4 format. Later I couldn't upload videos. Later I uploaded in normal mp4 BUT it said we're sorry. This video is no longer available. Fix that please.

been uploading this 200mb video for 10 hours straight, and that "loading" circle is still circling. I have a 10M cable connection, and downloads of all sorts are coming at roughly 300 kb/s. So, Youtube, you truly disappoint me on this.
I've been trying to upload a 0.59GB mpg file for the last couple of days. I was up regularly during last night checking on it but it kept failing and giving the "unkown error" message. I spotted it failing once when my internet connection dropped out. So YouTube needs to find a way of hanging onto the data that has been uploaded and joining it to the data after the drop out. AntiVirus software people seem to be able to do this with their uploads. Don't know how. Anyway today I got onto my ISP "talktalk" to see if there was a block on file sizes over, say, 0.5GB but they said there wasn't. Then they tried to fix my unreliable connection by ajusting the frequency (probably carrier frequency) on my land line. They did this twice and now I have been uploading for 4 hours approx without drop out. But it does seem to be unbelievably slow. Especially when one considers the speed of download, even in HQ. The upload speed should be only half this. But it seems more like 1/200th of the speed. I can watch the packets going through and it's like watching Big Ben's clock face going round! So it does rather look like YouTube has dropped a clanger. And just when I had decided that YouTube was the best idea I've been able to come up with for low cost marketing and for communication with my potential and existing customers. Dang! Come on YouTube. You can do it (to coin a phrase). Why not just go back to the old uploader till you've fixed this one properly?

Upload Failed Part II - The Unknown Error Revenge. Boo! :O
Further to my comment 14 hours ago I had the good fortune, thanks to my ISP, TalkTalk, to have 22 hors of continuous connection to the internet BUT this still wasn't enough for a successful upload of my 0.59GB mpg file. So after much fiddling about in vain trying to perfect audio sync with the video using Windows Movie Maker I managed to reduce the file size to approx 40MB for my 10 minute video with a consequent drop in quality of course and after about an hour uploading SUCCESS. But YouTube has no cause to be proud of this. It was all a big pain in the proverbial!
SawForger? I dont think it will help everyone ? Im not a huge fan of the youtube upload tool or whatever they call it. It suxs. Everybody got a problem with it? There is thousands of people that have some kind of problem with it? I wonder if the youtube staff even care? Or maybe are to lacy to do something about it. This is pathetic.

Hey guys, I figured out my problem. Some of you mentioned not getting a progress bar, well I managed to get one. All I did was transfer the video from my labtop to my main computer and voila! The video is now uploading at extreme speeds! Talk about a waste of 4 days...

Well, Ive been trying to upload a stupid video FOR 5 DAYS. I've tried both old and new uploader, both say "an unknown error occured". I've also tried diffrent formats, videos and even different websites! I could only upload a video I've uploaded before, which is JUST 1 SECOND. This thing sucks and had driven me INSAAANE!

I would like to express something on the issue of music videos. I used to be able to view any one I wanted (with the exception of about 1) but now I can't view any, not even Rick Astley. It tells me that the video is not available in my country. And as for the uploader I have checked that there is no problem with the video I am uploading, but yet it tells me that an unknown error has occured. Either tell us what the problem is, as there is no solution when the problem is unknown or fix it. I have gathered it is your end from reading various forums. Please fix the uploader as there are many of us eager Youtubers who wish to "Broadcast Ourselves", yet this is not possible as the uploader is not working. Many thanks.

On my slow connection, the old uploader used to work. The new one doesn't (neither does the beta). It keeps halting partway through the upload and says "Unkown error occurred." I've tried uploading the same small video umpteen times. Please provide a link to the old uploader on the upload page.

Converted, my files in 10 different formats from high res as what youtube wanted to mpeg4 and still get that error message. why???How can you upload multiple high definition files when I cant even load a simple one.

My video is under 10 minutes, and is about 300MB. It is an MPG. According to YouTube this should be fine, but I keep getting the dreaded "upload failed an unknown error occurred" error message. I'm glad I'm not the only one... but some people have been having problems for months! That's not very reassuring.

While I was trying to upload them, my iMovie application was completely closed, and that is where my video was located. This may be just luck, but when I tried keeping the application open while uploading the video, IT UPLOADED IN LESS THAN A MINUTE!!! Again, this may be just luck, but when I upload more videos, I'll see what happens.
Oh, and watch my videos too. You can probably just click on my channel name, and see them. I solve Rubik's Cubes in under 50 sec. Exciting right? Kind of nerdy, but cool.

This is my first time trying to upload something onto YouTube. It is the single most frustrating process EVER. You should be ashamed of this crap. After 3 DAYS of trying to upload videos in a various forms (finally going online, converting the video to flash and a measly 55 MB), I come home to find that finally, after what is along the lines of 20 or more attempts, my video uploaded "successfully." Only problem, now the video is "waiting to be processed." Really? How is this different from uploading? Why should this be so difficult? I'm completely turned off by this experience and, frankly, don't care if I ever use YouTube again. This was for a friend, who needed this clip online so she could apply to an online talent search, you guys effectively screwed her and wasted three days of my time. Thanks.

I love YouTube! Serious. I love it the way men should love their wives. But, I really wish there was a status bar to show upload progress (for example: file is 35% uploaded, 50% uploaded, etc). Then YouTube would be beyond reproach.

I've not even opted in to this "new and improved video uploader" and my vids aren't uploading at all. YouTube used to be the dogs nads now it's pants! :rdown: I've just opened an account at VIMEO (google it). You're limited to 500GB a week but there's no daft 10 minute rule. Check it out.

I have used a 52 MB vid (.wmv) and the uploader stops at random spots - like 50% or 75% or sth (I can't be sure since it is a progress bar.) I did that like 100 times and none of the tries worked.
Later, I googled it and found out .mpeg was better, so I reformatted my video and now it stops uploading at 100%. I wait at the 100% for like 50 mins, and sought to try it again. I have now tried it the 27th time.

The Bulk Uploader no longer works, ever. It either comes back with "0% timed out" or "0% Server Error". No word from YouTube on the forum as to a fix or even an acknowledgement that there's a problem. Has brought my posting to a halt.

Recently, two videos I took of Santa Monica Colleg police misconduct towards me in May 2006 and which I posted to YouTube at that time have been removed for allegations of privacy violations. But the videos were taken in a public, free-speech-designated area on campus and there are no such privacy issues, merely the allegation of such. The YouTube Team sent me a form email after taking down my videos, but there seems no reasonable way to appeal this absurd action by you guys. I sent letters to YouTube-Privacy and to YouTube-Legal Department, but have not heard any response. Any Suggestions?

Firstly, that rotating disc is useless. Either a progress bar or a pertengae upload is needed.
second, the layout is poor. I spent ages trying to work out why my upload wasn't showing, and then I spotted in small print that it couldn't convert.
Thirdly, there are problems, so why don't you post an acknowledgement as such? I've been messing about with formats and it was nothing to do with that.
If you must change things, please leave the old uploader available as backup.
