Meet the Inaugural Community Council
Today marks the first day of a new project aimed at better
understanding the needs and wants of our users. The "YouTube Community
Council" consists of a handful of volunteers (who will rotate every
six months) eager to share their opinions about the site and the
community with us on a consistent basis. They're kicking off their
tenure by visiting us in San Bruno over the next few days, giving
feedback directly to the team that makes it happen behind the scenes.
You can approach any of our councilors with your thoughts, gripes --
anything at all -- over the next six months, and they will fast-track
your feedback to us. Here's a quick video to introduce you to the
team…

Interesting, hey new gang, see if you can get them to bring back the capability to add videos to a group. The playlists suck big time because it has the max limit of videos per user. They will soon be obsolete because thousands of videos are added daily. Also see if you can get them to make the playlists visible that people save from each video. Now you can't click on it anymore.
Why won't you let me report copyright infringments of other entities material. It's obvious that JediMasterCaboose has no affiliation with Paramont's Ironman movie trailer. He is stealing bandwidth, awards and potential sponsors from users who produce original material.
This is great! I'm very optimistic. Here are two suggestions: allow the video owner to mark comments as *not* spam or unmark videos that have been labeled wrongly. (Have you seen the comments on OPRAH's "Welcome" video?)

Oh, so nice topic, and so reasonable comments. But i wanna say in the past 2 weeks I have been to several forum sites about interracial relationship etc and to my surprise, I find that many people say horrible things about people who date outside of their race! such as something on www.interracialsingleonline.com/. I would like to know what's driving all of this hatred still?

That's an interesting enough mix of people that most yt members should be able to relate to --and feel comfortable communicating with-- at least one council member. I've seen apparently well-researched news site articles that indicate less than 3% of yt members post vids. The rest of us are viewers. We probably have a different perspective from posters so please consider adding a viewer or two to your next council. And while I'm at it, I'd also like to suggest that yt load at least 15 pages of "most recents". My interest in yt is to get a global zeitgeist by banging through as many interesting-looking "most recents" as possible. Yt was a lot more rewarding when there were 15 pages at a time rather than the current five.
The Youtube Community was not asked for volunteers for this "Council".

This "Council" is nothing more than personally chosen cheer-squad for Damien Estreich the failed Youtube Advocate.
Fast-track this complaint to Youtube - we have no Community Representative, we have no say on Youtube, we are tired of Estreich's "coming soon" lies and cronyism.
We are tired of watching Estreich's friends being put first and Estreich's enemies being put last.
We are not going to talk to these people (some of whom should be banned from the site). We are going to ignore them the same as we ignore Estreich. We are going to tell anyone that will listen that Youtube is deaf, Youtube is dangerous and Youtube is duplicitous.
I wish there was a way of saving your highest honors for videos!
I'll make this short and sweet: Remove the ten minute limit! It is unfair that older users can upload longer videos but new users like myself cannot! I have content that I want to upload but cannot due to the limit. It falls within the rules of copyright law and I have a right to upload my content as much as the older users!

I like the old timer at the bottom right of the video window that shows the total length of the video and how much time is left. I don't care for that new one which only shows the current time.

Sarry says they're not our representatives; they're just there to "copy, paste and forward" our comments to management. Lindsay and Brad say they're a Middle School student council with no real power. Brad says they'll only forward our ideas if they have merit, and that a main role is for them to direct us to the Help Center. Marc says his role with respect to the community HAS NOT CHANGED from before, and that he is no more less empowered or equipped to resolve issues or effect change than he was before the council was set up. And one council member has already given 30 minutes of channel time to a banned user so that he could continue to address the community despite the ban. I can't help being skeptical.

I find it disgusting that Political Candidates are allowed to delete comments posted on there videos. Free an open discussion is the very reason this company was founded. The comments are what makes Youtube legal in the first place. Not mention the fact that no where in our SOCIETY is a free an open discussion more valuable and important to the very SURVIVAL of our Republic, than in politics.
